Lorica Trust
The Trust was established by Father Alan Sharpe one cold winter night in 1985 when two homeless people, Joseph and Julie, asked for help. Today, the charity offers over 25,000 bed-spaces per year to those in need through its night shelter, a hostel, and resettlement flats. In the coldest months the Trust also operates a night café. In looking to develop a new format for its night shelter operation, St Patrick’s, whose parent body is the Lorica Trust, has sought to provide emergency short-term accommodation that would meet the needs of the homeless in the 21st Century better than any other accommodation currently available.
